***ORAN HOUSE PARTY***





Part 2: Let the Games Begin!

Outside the house a space was cleared for some torches and lamps. A small ring shape was formed with these and the basis for an arena. The 'mons all gathered around the outside of the ring excitedly. The first match was Jesse the Pikachu vs Andre the Absol. They all laughed at the combo, assuming the little Pikachu had no chance against the Absol, who looked far older and more experienced. They seemed upset that a match this unfair would even take place, that was until a lucky Thunderbolt attack from Jesse knocked the Absol out in the first round.

"WOW Jesse that was amazing! How did you do that?!" Alex the torchic shouted.

"I dont know." Jesse responded softly.

Up next was Rin the Ralts and Kip the mudkip. This fight was very slow and strange, neither of the two seemed to want to harm the other in any way and eventually the match ended in a draw. When asked why Kip said that he didnt want to fight her, she just decided they should fight, and his stubborness made him unable to fight. Rin said the exact opposite and the fight ended without a blow being exchanged.

After that Berrie fought Rush the Machop. To everyones surprise, the dopey Spheal won! He simply sunk his fangs into the Machops arm and didnt let go until he gave up. Berrie rolled around playfully on the ground after his victory, but seemed not to realise that he had won a fight. When he finally noticed the Machop clutching his arm in pain, he began to cry and fell at its feet, begging it to forgive him.

The Machop smiled nervously. "Yeah yeah.... it doesnt hurt much honest. I forgive you!" He said laughing.

Finally the main event came. Archer vs Kyra.

Archer, still pissed off at her, glarred at her from across the ring, his paw in a fist, he thrust it into his other paw and cracked them. He smirked at Kyra.

"Ill show you what happens to people who mess with Team Rapid Fire!" he shouted.

The Eevee laughed. "I was surprised your friend had any strength to him. Im shocked hes not ordering you around with fangs like that."

Archer steamed up. "Im the brains behind this operation! And the muscle too!" He said taking an agile stance.

"I Dont need to prove myself to you Archer, but if you want a fight, your going to get one!" She said taking an equally impressive stance.

"Oh yeah! why dont you come at me then?"

"Well why dont you come at me!"

"Oh no not again....." Stitches said from the sidelines. "Someone actually fight this time."

"We will! Shut up Stitches!" Archer shouted turning and looking at him. As he did he felt a pain in his foot. He looked down and saw the Eevee had clamped her jaws onto it. It hurt ALOT! He screeked and flipped her off of it.

Kyra skidded backwards and collected herself in a combat stance. "Dont let your guard down." She said laughing.

Archer turned back at her and smirked. "I hope you like getting wet." He turned to the left suddenly and as quick and gracefully as he could, dove over the crowd and hit the water of the lake with a crash. He began to run at full speed until he was literally running on the water. Berrie looked on from the shore with delight.

"SOOOOO AWESOME ARCHIEE!!!!!!" He shouted.

Archer collected the water into an impressive wake, he was set up for a quick Aqua Jet. He burst back to the shore and thrust the wake at the Eevee, sending her flying into an oak tree near the shore. He lept onto the shore and laughed.

"How you like me now!" He shouted posing heroically on the shore.

"HYPER VOICE!" A shout came from the tree as a wave of sound blew across the 'mons watching the fight. To Archers horror, he was knocked back into the lake, without enough time to build up a running speed he crashed below the water level and began to sink. Kyra jumped down from the tree and collected herself by the shore. She looked down at the water with a grin.

"gotcha." She said but her victory was short lived. Archer flew out of the water foot first and kicked her square in the face, the Eevee doubled back and held her stance.

"IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT!" She shouted.

Archer began to glare at her, his eyes got dark. "Im just warming up." He said smirking.

Kyra smirked back, then dug a hole. Archer stopped using glare and looked at the hole with surprise. "Where did she go?" he said quietly.

Suddenly Kyra burst out of the ground and sunk her teeth into Archers tail. "AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" he shouted and began to run all over the yard.
The pokemon laughed as Archer flailed about crying. "She bit me again!!!! get it off GET IT OFF!!!!" He finally fell to the ground.

"Shhhumbit Buisssel!" Kyra said with a mouthful of Archers tail.

"I give! I give!" He shouted crying. He had lost, and not gracefully. The 'mons applauded Kyras skill and she bowed before them. Archer gathered himself, dusted himself off and looked at the grimely.

"Allright Allright Already, Kyra wins the fighting contest, shall we move on?"


Next up was the Karoke jam. Archer decided to sit this out, he had no confidence behind a microphone. A few of the pokemon there seemed up for it though.

First up was Kyra, who walked to the mic gracefully and cleared her throught, but her distaste for people hearing her singing (dispite how good it was.) caused nothing to emerge from her mouth. Eventually she gave up and sat down, crossing her arms annoyed.

Berrie got up and tried to sing but he wasnt very good, when the song was over the 'mons clapped politely but were happy he had stopped.

The true hit of the night were Mali and Oishi who sang a touching duet that had many of the pokemon at the party fighting off tears. They went up against the Five Machop builders who showed up and sang together in harmony. They were good but not Mali and Oishi good, and thus Mali and Oishi won the Karoke Jam.

Next up was the Berrie eating contest, and after quickly explaining to his partner that they werent going to eat him, Archer had convinced Berrie that he should enter. Archer knew that Berrie would win this contest by a landslide, which of course he did. The relentless gluttony of Berrie the Spheal knows no bounds, and by the end of the five minute period Berrie had eaten every berry placed infront of him plus those of the two 'mons beside him at the table. He even took a bite out of the side of the Oran House's kitchen wall when they said there were no more left in the house.


Finally it had come to the final event, the cooking contest. The contestants, Drift the Zangoose, Archer the Buizel, Gem the Charmander, Stitches the Shuppet, Jesse the Pikachu, and Will and Joe together as a team, were allowed to use anything in the kitchen to make a dish.

In the end Will and Joe proved to have alot of trouble decided who was going to cook and who was going to prepare ingredients and began a fight in the kitchen that got them disqualified. Jesse didnt end up making anything, Instead he painted a beautiful picture of a cake. Berrie declared it the winner but when he realised he couldn't eat it changed his mind. Drift made a Pie that didnt taste particularly good but he still managed to get some of the girls at the party to eat it. Archer had no luck in this contest either. He was as bad at cooking as he was at fighting. He had some cool skills with a knife however, being very agile and quick witted. This made the crowd think he had a good shot at winning until he didnt actually end up making anything. He put the clean knife back in the drawer and sat down quietly.

In the end Gem the Charmander's roast chicken was the winner. The judging however was short lived, because she had ended up eating most of her dish herself.

"I like chicken." Gem responded when questioned about it, between mouthfuls.

So as the four matches came to different conclusions, Five winners were declared instead of one. Gem the Charmander, Berrie the Spheal, Mali and Oishi and Kyra the Eevee all stood up before the crowd and took a bow as a thumping applause washed over the crowd.


As the competition came to a close and the night reached the wee hours of the morning, the group sat down to a quick dinner under the stars at a long table. What was left of Gem's chicken was placed on the table and the 'mons talked until all the food was gone.

"Great party Archer...." Jesse the Pikachu said quietly.

"Glad you had fun Jesse." Archer smiled back.

"Yeah great grub too!" Stitches said grabbing a handful of chicken, which made Gem blush.

Venna the ghastly, tuckered out from the meal passed out a little at the table and softly whistled as she slept. Grace the Eevee was sitting next to her and gave her a nudge. Venna woke up in a rage.

"DONT DISTURB ME!" She shouted. And fell back asleep. The Eevee fell off the bench and fainted temporarly in terror, but she was ok.

Razor the Eevee, sitting beside her laughed at the Eevee and held up an egg.

"EGGCELLENT!" She said laughing loudly, which got a sigh out of her partner Storm who apologized for Razors love of puns.

Whispy the cottonee who had traded her spot on Berries head for one on Andre the Absols, was being fed small spoonfuls of food by him. Across from her were Mali and Oishi who were happily scarffing down some berries.

"WIKIFIGGY!" They shouted, holding them up, and then popping them in their mouths.

Archer was eating a caserole baked by a Ninetails named Hana that had his mouth watering, he had never tasted anything so good before.

"This is amazing Hana, its a shame you got here so late.... you would most definetly have won the Baking Contest." He said eating it happily.

Hana smiled back. "Thanks, im glad you all like it."

As she said that Gem, whos face was full of rage at Archers comment, tossed a Pinap at him which splatted on his face. He was shocked for a minute until it dropped on to his fork that had some of the caserole on it. He ate it and laughed.

"ITS EVEN BETTER WITH PINAP JUICE ON IT!" He said laughing loudly, and the whole table joined in, even Gem, who was no longer mad.

The brothers Chi and Torpor were sitting at the end of the table and talking quietly with Kyra. She seemed to be talking about how easy it was to beat Archer in the combat challenge. As they were at opposite ends of the table, Archer didnt notice at all, which was probably for the best.

Joe and Will still seemed to be arguing over who was the better cook, they ate, their heads pressed together with angry expressions, it was a bizarre thing to see. The two seemed to really enjoy fighting, even over something like food.

Drift the Zangoose, Alex the torchic and Rin the Ralts were all eating happily in the far corner of the table, near Kyra. They seemed to be talking together quietly when Drift pipped up.

"Hey Archer! Alex had an idea. While we eat we should play truth or dare!" He shouted. Archer looked down the table at the trio, The Zangoose was smiling and waving with the Ralts, Alex the torchic was rubbing his hands together creepily and making a schemey face.

- He scares me sometimes - Archer thought. "Do whatever you want guys!" He said with a smile. He was too busy licking the bottom of the caserole dish to care.


Drift started the game. He pointed at Kyra.

"You.... Eevee" He said.

"Hmm?" Kyra responded.

"Truth or Dare?"

"Truth."

The Zangoose smirked. "Is it true you can fly?"

Kyra laughed. "Yeah of course i can."

The Zangoose smiked again. "How exactly?"

"Only one question, remember the rules Drift." Kyra responded uninterested. She was eating happily.

"ooook.... erm.... who wants to go next."

Gem put her hand up and went next. "Berrie truth or Dare!" She said

"DARE!" He shouted.

"I dare you to..... Kiss Archer!"

Archer stopped licking the caserole dish and looked at Berrie who was puckering up again.

"No no no.... we allready did that!"

This time he didnt have a chance to escape. Berrie tackled him and kissed him on the head. The entire table broke into laughter as Archer stumbled to his feet.

"Ugh.... berrie your breath stinks! What did you eat."

Whispy the Cottonee laughed. "What didnt he eat!!!" The table broke out laughing again.

"I dont get it." Berrie said smiling dopely.

Berries turn was next. "Ermm...... Rush! Truth or dare!"

The Machop builder had been silent most of the night. "Truth!"

Berrie thought long and hard. "Why did Oran House taste nothing like a Berry?"

The Machop leaned over the table angrily. "HEY DONT MUCK UP MY FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP!"

Archer laughed. "Its not made of berrys idiot. It just looks like one."

Berrie sighed. "on the inside i know its not..... but i thought maybe the outside."

Archer stopped. "Berrie did you bite the outside of Oran House?"

"A little."

Archer got up and looked at the front of the house. Where the den was he could see the floor inside. "YOU TOOK A HUGE BITE OUT OF THE DEN WALL!!! WHY!!!"

The table laughed again as Archer sat back down and laughed with them. "he never learns." he said sighing. he could easily fix it up later.

The Machop laughed and looked over at Archer. "Hey you, buizel, Truth or Dare?"

Archer smirked. "Truth, im not in a kissing mood." He laughed.

The Machop smiled back. "Ok then.... Is it true that your from Riverwatch? I mean they said no one surv-"



Archer stopped moving entirely. He dropped his food and began to breathe heavily. "R-riverwatch....."

Berrie had stopped as well. "No....... not that...." He said softly. "Archie.... its ok."

Archer stood up from the table and smiled. "Its allright Berrie.... im fine." He looked out at them.

It was clear he had begun to cry but he fought it back as best he could. "Its getting late guys. Awesome party. And good question Rush, i guess you win huh?" He quitely bowed as politely as he could, fending the tears off and stumbled away from the table. He went back in the house.

The Machop got up. "Ill go talk to him."

"No.... dont.... its best we leave him alone." Berrie said softly. There was dead silence at the table. No one spoke for a while after that. They all quietly ate and then went back inside for Berry Tea in the sitting room. It was quiet for the rest of the night after that. The party had not ended though. Most of the 'mons stayed for a while after that but it wasnt the same.

Far away from the party, sitting by the backshore of the house alone, Archer looked down at his reflection in the lake. His reflection disappeared slightly as his tears dropped one by one into the gentle wake. He reached up and touched the scar on his right eye, it burned as much as it did the day he got it. He lowered his hand to his float ring, and touched his emblem.

"Mom..... Dad.... i miss you so much. Im sorry i havent thought about you in a long time.... mostly because when i do..." he stopped as the tears continued to fall. "I just cant...."

He swatted in anger at his reflection, trying to push the memories away, but he knew he couldnt. He sat on the shore of Tao's lakefront and cried quietly and alone.


"Whats wrong Archer?" A voice called out. He turned to see Rin the Pikachu standing beside him.

"Hi Rin..." He said wiping his eyes. "When did you get here?"

"Sorry im so late." She said smiling. "Apperantly i missed all the excitement."

"Yeah..." he said smiling back. "You missed alot."

"Are you allright?" She asked him.

"Yeah ill be fine.... Just lost a game of truth or dare." He said, laughing uncomfortably.

"Wow.." She said to him. "Your a pretty sore loser."

He laughed back. She had bought it, he didnt want her to know why he was really crying.



"The lake is beautiful tonight." He said softly.

Rin looked over at him. "What?"

"oh...." Archer said looking at her. "Sorry, was talking to myself." he looked out at the water. "I like it here, its so peaceful and quiet. Reminds me of.... Home. You know?"

Rin nodded and smiled. Suddenly a Machop came running around the side of the building. It was Rush. "Oh! hey guys!.... Oh Archer hey i wanted to say -"

"Forget it Rush, no harm done." He said slapping the Machop on the shoulder. "Whats all the commotion?"

"We got the fireworks set up. Wanted to find you first before we started though. Whos this?" he asked looking at the pikachu.

"Hi im Rin" She said Happily. The Machop waved back.

"You might want to hurry up, theres an odd looking girl from out of town.... shes kind of weirding your friend out....."

"What?" Archer asked.

"A lickitung i think she was, didnt ask her..... she didnt say much."

Archer stood up and walked towards the front of the house. He smiled and looked out at the lake one last time.  - Someday, ill be able to put the past behind me.... until then. Mom.... Dad..... Goodnight." He smiled at Rin.

"Want to go see some fireworks?"

"YOU KNOW IT!"
